The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) released a TV advertisement that criticizes AG candidate January Contreras over her handling of neglect complaints at an Arizona veterans home.

The ad also claims Contreras, a Democrat and former assistant attorney general, failed at her job and is untrustworthy.

“You remember, veterans in a state home, neglected, left soiled and covered in urine, with cigarette burns on their clothes,” the ad voiceover stated.

“Yet January Contreras knew about the problems for more than a month and didn't report them,” it continued.

“That's right, January Contreras mishandled evidence of patient neglect, more worried about bad press than addressing the problems. That's why we won't forget January Contreras failed in her duties, failed our veterans, and can't be trusted to protect Arizona,” the voiceover stated.

RAGA communication director Zack Roday stated that Contreras should be ashamed because veterans at the home were neglected.

"Arizona cannot afford her failed leadership. The state's top law enforcement official is a protector and when January had the chance to protect Arizonans, she fell woefully short. Attorney General Mark Brnovich has been a fighter – a proven protector – for the past four years. Arizonans can count on Brnovich; he's taken on terrorists, scammers, and drug dealers. January Contreras failed at her past job, she does not deserve a promotion.”
