Mesa Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Oct. 17.

Please join Honorary Spokespersons Paul and Amy Goldschmidt, of the Arizona Diamondbacks family, at the House of Refuge 3rd Annual Hot Havana Nights Gala. As long time advocates of family strength and health, Paul and Amy ask you to join in the excitement of the evening as we celebrate “families helping families” and continue the work of eradicating homelessness in our community.

As the first player in franchise history to be invited to the All-Stars Game for 6 consecutive seasons, as the DBacks recipient of the Roberto Clemente for 3 straight years, through years of volunteer service to brighten the lives of families at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, as Adopt-a-Home donors at House of Refuge for the past two years, Paul and Amy, are highly involved, both on and off the field, in giving back to the community that they call home.

Executive Director for House of Refuge, Nancy Marion, was humbled and thrilled when she got the call from Goldschmidt, “Number 44 for the Arizona Diamondbacks, America’s first-basemen, first player in franchise history to be invited to the All-Stars for 6 consecutive season, 2018 Arizona Diamondbacks Roberto Clemente recipient, Adopt-a-Home donor, and a genuinely nice guy”.
