Pima Animal Care Center issued the following announcement on July 18.

Friends of Pima Animal Care Center is looking for people would like to “Ride with the PACC” in the 2019 El Tour de Tucson Nov. 23.

They are looking for cyclists of all ages and abilities to make a difference for pets in Pima County. It’s easy to join. Riders must have a minimum fundraising goal of $150. Once that minimum is met, the cyclist can get free entry to ride in El Tour. Registration is open until Oct. 31.

The Ride with the PACC team was created in 2018 by Friends of PACC, thanks to the recommendation of PACC volunteers Jerry Rosen and Ursula Schwarz. Both of them are dog walkers who cycle and wanted to combine their two passions to help shelter pets. Last year, 31 pet-lovers rode on the team, and they are hoping to double the size of the team this year.

Last year’s fundraising goal was $5,000. The team raised over $11,700! This year, FOP is aiming for $10,000. Helping to add to the goal, a very generous individual donor has offered to donate $100 per rider, up to 150 riders!

To sign up, go to www.friendsofpacc.org or http://bit.ly/RidePACC2019. From there, riders can learn about the team and register to ride.

Friends of PACC will host at least two training rides a month until the big ride in November. Email Jerry Rosen at jrmobileunit2@hotmail.comto sign up for the training rides.

The next one is July 20. Riders will meet at 5:45 a.m. at Christina-Taylor Green Park. Learn more from the Facebook event.

Last year’s jerseys and helmet covers were quite popular, and FOP is planning on selling them again this year. People will be able to purchase them by calling Friends of PACC at 520-724-5947. They will also be for sale at the El Tour de Tucson Expo Nov. 21-22 at the Tucson Convention Center. Contact Friends of PACC at info@friendsofpacc.org to stay up to date on all the latest “Ride with the PACC” information.

Riders can look good on the ride by purchasing Friends of PACC El Tour gear at https://friendsofpacc.threadless.com/. Riders and non-riders alike can purchase custom goods from the site.
