Cost of college went up for all students at the Sonoran Desert Institute


Tuition and fees rose 11.2 percent for 2018-19 at the Sonoran Desert Institute, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Arizona students paid $9,440 to attend the two-year private for-profit institution this year – $950 more than the $8,490 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 34 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 41 students received grants or scholarships totaling $204,559 and 35 students took out student loans totaling more than $226,123.

Including all undergraduates (1,755), 667 students used grants or scholarships totaling $2.9 million, and 103 students took out $523,800 in federal student loans.
