Residents can make a difference for hospital patients as blood donors and receive a free pass to a local water park through Monday.

Donors will receive a full-day pass at Sunsplash Waterpark, 155 W Hampton Ave., Mesa through United Blood Services's Take it to the MAX campaign, according to a press release. Each donor will get a pass to enjoy over 30 rides and attractions, including water slides and a wave pool.

By becoming a donor, participants help Arizona hospitals meet their requirements and contribute to the recovery of many patients needing transfusions. The blood goes to hospitals for patients based on their blood type and physical attributes.

Staff at the water park are grateful for those who make donations.

“Many of our families and friends have relied on the generosity of blood donors to provide lifesaving blood transfusions,” Sunsplash Waterpark marketer Tony Jones said in the release. “It is a great honor to thank blood donors by paying it forward with a day of fun in the sun!”

To make a donation appointment, residents can call 877-827-4376 or visit www.bloodhero.com and enter their zip code to find the nearest donor center. Eligible centers are in Chandler, Glendale, Goodyear, Mesa, Phoenix and Scottsdale.
