Lisa Marra, Cochise County communications and community relations administrator, has been appointed director of elections and special districts.

Cochise County officials recently announced her appointment to the elections post, which she began earlier this month.

Marra began working for the county in 2012, having previously served as grants director. In 2015, she began her most recent assignment through the Board of Supervisor’s Office, which included public relations, legislative affairs, economic development and specialty assignments.

“Lisa’s professional skills and experience will be an immediate asset to our elections department,” Cochise County Administrator Ed Gilligan said in a statement. “In her work she has proven to be ethical, accountable, accurate, and accessible. I consider these to be essential traits in an elections director and I am excited for what she and our elections team can accomplish together.”

Marra, who holds a business administration degree, also worked for the city of Bisbee’s community development department in the political and transportation fields for over 20 years.

“I am honored to serve a role in the department that is a cornerstone of government,” Marra said in a press release statement. “I am grateful for the opportunity and trust placed in me to work with the current team to move our elections process forward for our residents.”
