The Tucson Metro Chamber recently hosted the 20th annual Copper Cactus Awards at Tuscon’s Casino Del Sol Resort in collaboration with Wells Fargo to honor the achievements of 16 southern Arizona’s small-business owners.

Judges chose the winners from among 52 finalists culled from a total of hundreds of entrants. The celebration drew more than 700 attendees and was hosted by Larry Mac and Beth Simmons from Arizona Lotus, 96.1 KLPX.

“This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Copper Cactus Awards celebrating the accomplishments of our locally owned small businesses,” Larry Lucero, Tucson Metro Chamber board chairman, said in the press release. “Southern Arizona is home to thousands of small businesses and entrepreneurs – These are people who have dreamed, dared, risked and are now making the most of our country’s system of free enterprise.”

Winners include Fangamer, Contact One Call Center and Pueblo Mechanical and Controls for Best Place to Work; Village Bakehouse and AAA Landscape for Workforce Development; Re-Bath of Tucson, Walbro and Casa de la Luz Hospice for Growth; Tucson Girls Chorus, Literacy Connects, Youth on Their Own and SAAVI Services for the Blind for Charitable Nonprofits; Silverado Rooter & Plumbing, Paragon Space Development and Simpleview for Innovation; and Barbi Reuter, Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR for Small Business Leader of the Year.
